Eaton Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Lyman D. Eaton II (BS 1974) and Joyce A. Eaton established the Eaton Entrepreneur of the Year Award for alumni of the College of Pharmacy who have excelled in entrepreneurial activities during their career. One recipient is chosen annually and recognized during the Dean’s Leadership and Innovation Forum.

Nominations are accepted throughout the year on a rolling basis.

Eaton Entrepreneur of the Year Award Selection Guidelines:

  • The winner must have excelled in the area of entrepreneurial activity by starting or growing a company/commercial enterprise in a significant manner.
  • The Dean of the College of Pharmacy and/or his/her nominee will determine the winner.
  • The winner must be able to travel to campus and receive the award and deliver a lecture relating to entrepreneurial activity to the Dean’s Leadership and Innovation Forum in the spring semester.

Brett Dines, RPh, MBA, is a visionary entrepreneur whose career spans the launch of groundbreaking startups to leading multi-billion-dollar divisions at Fortune 50 companies. Brett has pioneered advancements in orphan drug development as the first-ever to achieve FDA orphan drug designation for a radiopharmaceutical. As the Founder and CEO of OYE Therapeutics he recently secured a $20 million U.S. Department of Defense Award to address a series of unmet medical needs via the reformulation of a repurposed drug product.  

Brett’s career includes executive leadership roles at Walgreens and Cardinal Health, where he led transformative initiatives, revitalized divisions, and generated multi-billion-dollar growth. A proud Purdue University alumnus, Brett exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit and leadership celebrated by the Eaton Award and Purdue University. Sharing this legacy with his Boilermaker family, Brett is joined by his wife, Stephanie, a nurse anesthetist, and daughters Morgan and Brooke, all Purdue alumni. His achievements serve as a powerful inspiration for future generations to lead with purpose, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to creating a better future.

Brett’s office contains a simple quote from Joel Barker, “Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world.” Brett’s ability to unite vision with action has driven groundbreaking innovations into life-changing solutions through relentless leadership, resilience and determination.
