Matthew Kelm
Associate Chief Pharmacy Officer for Oncology Pharmacy, Duke Health
Matthew Kelm has more than 20 years of experience as a pharmacist, pharmacy administrator, academician, author and researcher. He is the Associate Chief Pharmacy Officer for Oncology Pharmacy Duke Health in Durham, NC.
Dr. Kelm’s expertise in human resource management and leadership development contribute to his ability to help clients improve medication distribution and control, operations management, staffing resource needs, regulatory and compliance issues. As a practicing pharmacy leader, Matt possesses extensive knowledge of automation assessment and optimization, use of data to innovate pharmacy and enhance operational processes, facility and clean room technology and design, controlled substances and drug diversion, medication safety, emergency preparedness and innovative models for pharmacy technician education, oncology clinical practice, program design, and infusion operations.
Dr. Kelm earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Purdue University in 2006 and his Masters in Healthcare Administration from University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill in 2012. He is a guest lecturer of the Financial Management of Health-system Pharmacy course for the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Science with a specialization in health-systems pharmacy. Matt was the founding program director of the Duke Health System Pharmacy Technology Training Program and lead the program for three years.
He is actively involved in multiple state and national level professional organizations. Dr. Kelm has recently served as the President of the North Carolina Pharmacists Association. Additionally, he is a lead surveyor for ASHP/ACPE Pharmacy Technician Accreditation Commission and Senior Consultant for ASHP Consulting.
