Chito Hernandez is the Founder of Stillwave, an executive coaching firm dedicated to developing transformative leaders in life sciences, and Professor of Practice at the University of California, San Diego. He brings over 30 years of distinguished leadership in the industry, combining executive roles at top biopharma companies with technical expertise as a PhD statistician.

He has led multiple Biometrics and Data Science departments, most recently as Group Vice President at BioMarin, and previously as Vice President at Elan Pharmaceuticals and Janssen Alzheimer’s Immunotherapy. During his tenure across these organizations, he has contributed to the successful regulatory approval of eight innovative therapies, seven of them first-in-class.

Chito’s passion for leadership development grew from his recognition that while skilled technical experts are plentiful, exceptional leaders in data science and biometrics remain scarce. Through Stillwave and his teaching at UC San Diego, he bridges this gap by drawing on his unique combination of executive experience and technical acumen to develop and coach the next generation of statistical and scientific leaders.
