The bi-annual Tyler Symposium was established in honor of Dr. Varro E. Tyler to recognize his many contributions to the development of the professional and research programs in the College of Pharmacy during his 20 years tenure as Dean (1968-1988). It is organized by the College of Pharmacy Graduate Student Council and made possible by generous support from the Varro E. Tyler Distinguished Lectureship Endowment; Eric Barker, Vice President for Health Affairs and Jeannie and Jim Chaney Dean of Pharmacy; and Danzhou Yang, Associate Dean for Graduate Programs Distinguished Professor, Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, and Martha and Fred Borch Chair in Cancer Therapeutics.
This year’s symposium features the following keynote speakers:
- Samir Mitragotri, Ph.D., Hiller Professor of Bioengineering and Wyss Professor of Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University
- Elisabetta Patorno, M.D., DrPH, Associate Professor of Medicine at Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics, Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital
- Kevan M. Shokat, Ph.D., Professor and Chair in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology at University of California, San Francisco
