Pharmd Academic Calendar
Academic Calendar for the PharmD Program
The Doctor of Pharmacy Program calendar aligns with the Purdue University Calendar, including observance of university breaks and holidays. Exceptions and considerations include:
First Professional Year (P1)
- Incoming first professional year students will participate in a Pharmacy Orientation Program which begins on the Friday prior to the University fall term for students new to the Purdue West Lafayette campus or on Sunday for students previously enrolled at Purdue West Lafayette. The College of Pharmacy Orientation Letter, emailed to P1 students, provides fall start dates.
Experiential Education Requirements
- Second (P2) and third professional year students (P3) are assigned to off-campus Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) during time periods outside of the University fall and spring terms, potentially during summer months prior to the start of the P2 and P3 years. Students enrolled in an IPPE do not observe University breaks.
- P4 students begin Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) in May, directly following successful completion of all didactic courses. During the P4 year, students complete the equivalent of nine (plus one optional) 4-week long rotations at a variety of off-campus practice sites. P4 students enrolled in APPEs do not observe University breaks.
- The Office of Experiential Learning will provide additional information on these required experiences during the College Orientation Program and throughout the curriculum.
