Pre-Doctor of Pharmacy

The Pre-Doctor of Pharmacy pathway is an accelerated, two-year, non-degree curriculum that prepares students to apply to the four-year Purdue professional PharmD program. This fast-paced preparatory path enhances educational affordability and helps students enter the workforce sooner than other PharmD programs. This pathway accounts for 64 college credit hours. Eligibility for financial aid requires 72 hours of undergraduate credit. Additional AP, IB, dual credit, department credit, transfer credit and electives above the four required credit hours will apply toward the 72 hours.

The Pre-PharmD curriculum is housed within the first two years of the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Science (BSPS) program, and the core curriculum is almost identical for both educational goals. This allows students to immerse themselves in coursework and determine which educational goal (BSPS or PharmD) is best for them.  The Pre-PharmD curricula is highly focused on biology, chemistry, physics, and math, pre-pharmacy students also take courses on interprofessional skills, composition, and economics. Additionally, students enroll in two courses: Introduction to Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences – highlighting career options, and Intro to Pharmacy and the Admissions Process – focusing on pharmacy practice fundamentals and prepares students for the PharmD admissions process.
